Governance in the Voluntary and Community Sector – Level 2
The Governance qualification offers individuals and groups the opportunity to develop a range of skills and understanding leading to effective governance of new and existing voluntary and community sector organisations. The qualification develops relevant knowledge, skills and experience for members of Boards of Trustees, Management Committees and other governing bodies to understand their main roles and responsibilities, and to carry these out effectively.
This qualification is approved by the National Open College Network (NOCN) at Level 2
This course is aimed at:
Those interested in developing the knowledge and skills required to be a member of a governing body in the voluntary or community sector
Members of governing bodies who want formal recognition of their roles and responsibilities
People applying for this course must be at least 16 years of age and possess sound literacy, numeracy and study skills. No previous experience is required.
Successful completion of the course will lead to the following learning outcomes:

Recognise how to fulfill the role of a governing body member effectively
Understand the key features of effective meetings
Understand the strategic planning process
Understand the methods used to ensure that a governing body meets its responsibilities
